we've been outside for over 3 hrs now digging trenches, shoveling, pumping, sweeping water etc.. the next storm is on it's way. our yard is still about 6 or more inches deep with water. we are having trouble moving the water out of the back of the house. the submersible pump is trying but can't keep up. the water is coming in the back of the house and the whole back wall is rotted out. our landlord put a new battery on the sump back up. it's pumping almost constantly. we still have power so far.
many towns around us have no power. downtown cedar rapids now has water up to the windows and they are evacuating people by boat now. downtown cedar rapids, iowa city and coralville are all on mandatory evacuation.
